American Movies Filmed in Paris

Paris is a real movie set! Do not be surprised to have a "deja vu" while walking on the streets in Paris - they were the sets for some of the most famous American movies and TV shows! Love story, a comedy, or an action-packed adventure... Hollywood can’t resist the charm of the French capital.

Here are some American favorites filmed in Paris (and the perfect excuse to rewatch them before your trip 😉).

1. Emily in Paris (2020– )

Okay, technically, it’s a series, but Emily in Paris deserves the first spot. Love it or hate it, this Netflix hit shows Paris through the eyes of an American who moves here for work — croissants, fashion, romance, and, of course, a lot of clichés. Still, it’s fun to recognize the Parisian streets, cafés, and neighborhoods while following Emily’s adventures. Believe it or not, but Samuel Arnold (Julian) and Bruno Gouery (Luc) wear French Abroad Paris!

2. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) — wait, Paris too!

Most people remember Kevin running wild in New York, but did you know Paris was part of the first Home Alone movie? In Home Alone (1990), the McCallisters fly to Paris for Christmas, and we get glimpses of the French capital during their holiday chaos. It’s not a full Paris film, but it’s a fun cameo.

3. Midnight in Paris (2011)

Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris is basically a love letter to the city. From the Seine at night to Montmartre, the movie shows Paris as a magical place where past and present meet. For anyone who dreams of wandering through Paris with a notebook in hand, this movie feels like a fairytale.

4. Inception (2010)

Remember the café scene where the streets of Paris fold onto themselves? That was filmed in the 7th arrondissement, near Rue César Franck. Inception gives Paris a surreal twist, making it the perfect backdrop for mind-bending cinema.

5. The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

The last part of the film takes us straight to Paris during Fashion Week. Think luxury hotels, runway shows, and glamorous shots of the city. If you love fashion (and a little drama), Paris is basically the final character in the movie.

6. Ratatouille (2007)

Okay, it’s animated - but Ratatouille is still one of the most iconic American films set in Paris. From the Eiffel Tower to the tiny kitchens, the film captures the spirit of French cuisine and Parisian charm. Plus, who doesn’t secretly dream of dining with Remy?
